Please Support My Tupelo Press 30/30 Poetry Marathon

9/1/2015

Friends,

I was asked to be part of Tupelo Press’s 30/30 Project for September. This poetry marathon is designed to encourage us to build into our life the disciplined, daily practice of writing. You will be able to follow that brand-new writing almost instantly through the Tupelo Press blog. All fundraising efforts this month are dedicated specifically to publish a Korean American poetry anthology curated by Pamela Paek and Margaret Rhee.

I'm also excited to announce that my husband, Guillermo Cancio-Bello, who is also a poet, will be joining me for the 30/30 project this month. We might write a collaborative poem together during September, or we may proclaim sonnets and odes to each other's funny bones. We may not. You'll have to tune in to find out. We'll have to tune in to find out, too. Either way, we're all lucky to read some fresh material by this elusive and luminary craftsman.

About the 30/30 Project
Tupelo Press selects a group of poets to write a poem each day in a given month. These poems will be published on the 30/30 blog. The purpose of this project is twofold: 1) To support and raise awareness for poetry, and 2) To fundraise for the small press that created this wonderful project. To find out more about Tupelo, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) literary press, check them out.

Fundraising Goals
Because I believe in the importance of giving voice to Korean poetry in America, I have pledged to raise $500 to support the Korean American anthology. Please join me in supporting Tupelo Press and Korean American poetry. If 25 people donate $20, we will have reached our goal together. I am also adding some personal incentives for specific donation amounts:
  • $25  = Handwritten letter of gratitude for supporting this project.
  • $50 = One poem from my chapbook, Last Train to the Midnight Market, printed on high-quality linen paper, with a handwritten note of gratitude for supporting this project (your choice from 5 different poems).

If you choose to sponsor me during the month of April, please visit the 30/30 blog to make your donation. It is very important that you fill out the “In Honor Of” field with “Marci Calabretta Cancio-Bello” or "Guillermo Cancio-Bello" so Tupelo knows to credit the donation to my or my husband's goal amount. Please also send me your mailing address via email or social media for the above-listed donation rewards.

I’m honored to be part of Tupelo's 30/30 project this month. Even if you can't financially support me, please check out the blog every day to read at least one poem a day. Thank you for your support!

Warmly,

Marci Calabretta Cancio-Bello
